Higher Educated People has a chance to get With Low Blood Pressure: Brown University Research
A new research at the Brown University, Rhode Island has suggested that higher education might benefit the heart and the brain, especially in case of females. Scientists have found that when compared to people who finished education in teenage, people who went to college had lower blood pressure (BP) as they aged. People with a master's degrees or doctorate were benefited the most.

Researchers studied the systolic blood pressure in about 4,000 people. They compared these findings in men and women who had completed less than 12 years or more than 15 years of education and found that the blood pressure readings in women who were better educated were 3.26 mmHg lower than those who were less educated, while it was found that in men this reading was 2.6 mmHg lower. The reading did not change much even if the factors that influenced the BP like medication, smoking, alcohol consumption and obesity were adjusted. The readings were reduced to 2.86 mmHg in women and 1.25 mmHg in men.

Study leader Eric Loucks said, "Low educational attainment has been demonstrated to predispose individuals to high strain jobs, characterized by high levels of demand and low levels of control, which have been associated with elevated blood pressure."According to the Blood Pressure Association, high blood pressure or hypertension doubles the risk of dying from a heart attack or stroke. The new finding suggests that good education could save your life.

Social Networking Site for Kids: Parents can Monitor Kids activities: Indian Entrepreneur Idea is now popular in US

Another social networking site which was launched by an Indian Origin Entrepreneur is in news now a days. This is because Walt Disney Group has acquired it. This social networking site is called "Togetherville", it has some similar features like Facebook. But this is targeted to Kids, who are less than 13 years of age.

The Indian-origin entrepreneur Mandeep Singh Dhillon founded Togetherville in 2008 and released in public beta on May 19, 2010.

Home Page of Togetherville

 ABOUT TOGETHERVILLE

Togetherville is a social online community for families where parents create safe online neighborhoods for their kids (under 10) to play and connect with the real-life friends and family they already know and trust. Best of all, it's fun and it's free.

Togetherville,  helps kids learn much more than computer skills.

Togetherville, gives complete control over the kids - and grownups - who interact with them online. Because Togetherville neighborhoods are built from their own social network, there is no way anyone anonymous or unknown can ever interact with their child.

HOW IT WORKS

Togetherville mimics adult social networks in a kid-appropriate way. Each neighborhood is built around each specific child and remains closed to outsiders. Kids have their own profile pages, complete with their photos.

In Togetherville, kids can

* Play games and brainteasers
* Watch videos
* Create artwork
* Send and receive gifts
* Update their status with pre-screened text phrases,
* Send "safe" messages to friends
* Comment on or "Heart" their friends' activities.

Parents can login using Facebook account and no need to create a new username or password. Togetherville automatically finds User(Parent) Facebook friends and their children who already have Togetherville, and User(Parent) can easily build their child's neighborhood from there. Parent can "allow" specific friends to become part of their child's neighborhood or invite others in who may not already have Togetherville accounts.

Grownups have their own login page and parents have full access to their child's activity at any time, from any location.

WHOSE IDEA IS THIS
Togetherville is the brainchild of parent Mandeep Singh Dhillon. While living on assignment in India, his young kids were happily using the computer to connect with friends and family back home, but he wanted them to have more ways to play independently while keeping them safe and connected. Mandeep believes that the Internet-connected computer is the greatest learning device ever created and was surprised that so many of his friends were reluctant to put their kids online. As a dad, Mandeep wanted to make sure his kids were safe, and he also wanted to help them learn how to be productive and responsible online. Mandeep conceived of a new type of online community where kids and their families and friends can connect, and where kids learn to be good digital citizens from those interactions. He then assembled some of the best minds in social networking, technology, child development, and online safety, including graduates of Stanford University's Learning, Design and Technology Program, and Togetherville was born.

The family, all 167 of them, consumes around 200lb of rice and more than 130lb of potatoes a day. They are supported by their own resources and occasional donations from followers.

"Even today, I am ready to expand my family and willing to go to any extent to marry," Ziona said. "I have so many people to care (for) and look after, and I consider myself a lucky man."

Women Play Games More Than Men!

Women now play games more than men, according to a report by mobile app analytics provider Flurry. At least that’s true in the realm of mobile and mobile social games, where the likes of Zynga’s FarmVille and Popcap’s Plants vs. Zombies are at the forefront.

Women Play Games More Than Men

More than half of all mobile and mobile social gamers — 53 percent, to be exact — are women, bucking the stereotype that gaming is typically a male-dominated form of entertainment, according to the report. Only 40 percent of “traditional” gamers are women, according to the report.

The report found that women social gamers were typically older than their male counterparts — as women outnumbered men in the 26 to 65 age range. Men barely outnumbered women in the 18 to 24 age range. Just about a third of all mobile and social gamers were also in that same age range — 18 to 24 — while about half of mobile and social gamers fell in the 26 to 44 age range.

Successful Love Story of Infosys Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murthy

Its worth to read if you really get the best out of it.

Love Story of Narayana Murthy And Sudha (From Sudha’s Autobiography)

It was in Pune that I met Narayan Murty through my friend Prasanna who is now the Wipro chief, who was also training in Telco. Most of the books that Prasanna lent me had Murty’s name on them which meant that I had a preconceived image of the man. Contrary to expectation, Murty was shy, bespectacled and an introvert. When he invited us for dinner. I was a bit taken aback as I thought the young man was making a very fast move. I refused since I was the only girl in the group. But Murty was relentless and we all decided to meet for dinner the next day at 7.30 p.m. at Green Fields hotel on the Main Road,Pune.

The next day I went there at 7′ o clock since I had to go to the tailor near the hotel. And what do I see? Mr. Murty waiting in front of the hotel and it was only seven. Till today, Murty maintains that I had mentioned (consciously!) that I would be going to the tailor at 7 so that I could meet him…And I maintain that I did not say any such thing consciously or unconsciously because I did not think of Murty as anything other than a friend at that stage. We have agreed to disagree on this matter.

Soon, we became friends. Our conversations were filled with Murty’s experiences abroad and the books that he has read. My friends insisted that Murty was trying to impress me because he was interested in me. I kept denying it till one fine day, after dinner Murty said, I want to tell you something. I knew this was it. It was coming. He said, I am 5’4″ tall. I come from a lower middle class family. I can never become rich in my life and I can never give you any riches. You are beautiful, bright, and intelligent and you can get anyone you want. But will you marry me? I asked Murty to give me some time for an answer. My father didn’t want me to marry a wannabe politician,(a communist at that) who didn’t have a steady job and wanted to build an orphanage…

When I went to Hubli I told my parents about Murty and his proposal. My mother was positive since Murty was also from Karnataka, seemed intelligent and comes from a good family. But my father asked: What’s his job, his salary, his qualifications etc? Murty was working as a research assistant and was earning less than me. He was willing to go dutch with me on our outings. My parents agreed to meet Murty in Pune on a particular day at10 a. m sharp. Murty did not turn up. How can I trust a man to take care of my daughter if he cannot keep an appointment, asked my father.

At 12noon Murty turned up in a bright red shirt! He had gone on work to Bombay, was stuck in a traffic jam on the ghats, so he hired a taxi(though it was very expensive for him) to meet his would-be father-in-law. Father was unimpressed. My father asked him what he wanted to become in life. Murty said he wanted to become a politician in the communist party and wanted to open an orphanage. My father gave his verdict. NO. I don’t want my daughter to marry somebody who wants to become a communist and then open an orphanage when he himself didn’t have money to support his family. Ironically, today, I have opened many orphanages something, which Murty wanted to do 25 years ago. By this time I realized I had developed a liking towards Murty which could only be termed as love. I wanted to marry Murty because he is an honest man. He proposed to me highlighting the negatives in his life. I promised my father that I will not marry Murty without his blessings though at the same time, I cannot marry anybody else. My father said he would agree if Murty promised to take up a steady job. But Murty refused saying he will not do things in life because somebody wanted him to. So, I was caught between the two most important people in my life.

The stalemate continued for three years during which our courtship took us to every restaurant and cinema hall in Pune. In those days, Murty was always broke. Moreover, he didn’t earn much to manage. Ironically today, he manages Infosys Technologies Ltd., one of the world’s most reputed companies. He always owed me money. We used to go for dinner and he would say, I don’t have money with me, you pay my share, I will return it to you later. For three years I maintained a book on Murty’s debt to me. No, he never returned the money and I finally tore it up after my wedding. The amount was a little over Rs 4000. During this interim period Murty quit his job as research assistant and started his own software business. Now, I had to pay his salary too! Towards the late 70s computers were entering India in a big way.

During the fag end of 1977 Murty decided to take up a job as General Manager at Patni Computers in Bombay. But before he joined the company he wanted to marry me since he was to go on training to the US after joining. My father gave in as he was happy Murty had a decent job, now.

WE WERE MARRIED IN MURTY’S HOUSE IN BANGALORE ON FEBRUARY 10, 1978 WITH ONLY OUR TWO FAMILIES PRESENT.I GOT MY FIRST SILK SARI. THE WEDDING EXPENSES CAME TO ONLY RS 800 (US $17) WITH MURTY AND I POOLING IN RS 400 EACH.

I went to the US with Murty after marriage. Murty encouraged me to see America on my own because I loved travelling. I toured America for three months on backpack and had interesting experiences which will remain freshin my mind forever. Like the time when the New York police took me into custody because they thought I was an Italian trafficking drugs in Harlem. Or the time when I spent the night at the bottom of the Grand Canyon with an old couple. Murty panicked because he couldn’t get a response from my hotel room even at midnight. He thought I was either killed or kidnapped.

IN 1981 MURTY WANTED TO START INFOSYS. HE HAD A VISION AND ZERO CAPITAL…initially I was very apprehensive about Murty getting into business. We did not have any business background. Moreover we were living a comfortable life in Bombay with a regular pay check and I didn’t want to rock the boat. But Murty was passionate about creating good quality software. I decided to support him.

Typical of Murty, he just had a dream and no money. So I gave him Rs 10,000 which I had saved for a rainy day, without his knowledge and told him, This is all I have. Take it. I give you three years sabbatical leave. I will take care of the financial needs of our house. You go and chase your dreams without any worry. But you have only three years!

Members of the Infosys start-up team in the early days. Chairman and Chief Mentor, the iconic N R Narayana Murthy, is seen at far lef
Murty and his six colleagues started Infosys in 1981,with enormous interest and hard work. In 1982 I left Telco and moved to Pune with Murty. We bought a small house on loan which also became the Infosys office. I was a clerk-cum-cook-cum-programmer. I also took up a job as Senior Systems Analyst with Walchand group of Industries to support the house. In 1983 Infosys got their first client, MICO, in Bangalore. Murty moved to Bangalore and stayed with his mother while I went to Hubli to deliver my second child, Rohan. Ten days after my son was born, Murty left for the US on project work. I saw him only after a year, as I was unable to join Murty in the US because my son had infantile eczema, an allergy to vaccinations. So for more than a year I did not step outside our home for fear of my son contracting an infection. It was only after Rohan got all his vaccinations that I came to Bangalore where we rented a small house in Jayanagar and rented another house as Infosys headquarters.

Sudha Murthy, Narayana Murthy, Nandan Nilkeni and his wife Rohini in a picnic at Bangalore during 1980s
My father presented Murty a scooter to commute. I once again became a cook, programmer, clerk, secretary, office assistant etc. Nandan Nilekani (MD of Infosys) and his wife Rohini stayed with us. While Rohini baby sat my son, I wrote programs for Infosys. There was no car, no phone, and just two kids and a bunch of us working hard, juggling our lives and having fun while Infosys was taking shape. It was not only me but also the wives of other partners too who gave their unstinted support. We all knew that our men were trying to build something good.

It was like a big joint family, taking care and looking out for one another. I still remember Sudha Gopalakrishna looking after my daughter Akshata with all care and love while Kumari Shibulal cooked for all of us. Murty made it very clear that it would either be me or him working at Infosys. Never the two of us together… I was involved with Infosys initially.

Nandan Nilekani suggested I should be on the Board but Murty said he did not want a husband and wife team at Infosys. I was shocked since I had the relevant experience and technical qualifications.

He said, Sudha if you want to work with Infosys, I will withdraw, happily. I was pained to know that I will not be involved in the company my husband was building and that I would have to give up a job that I am qualified to do and love doing. It took me a couple of days to grasp the reason behind Murty’s request. I realized that to make Infosys a success one had to give one’s 100 percent. One had to be focussed on it alone with no other distractions. If the two of us had to give 100 percent to Infosys then what would happen to our home and our children? One of us had to take care of our home while the other took care of Infosys.

I opted to be a homemaker, after all Infosys was Murty’s dream. It was a big sacrificebut it was one that had to be made. Even today, Murty says, Sudha, I stepped on your career to make mine. You are responsible for my success. I might have given up my career for my husband’s sake.

But that does not make me a doormat…

Infosys founders (Left to right): Nandan Nilekani, S Gopalakrishnan, N R Narayana Murthy, K Dinesh, N S Raghavan and S D Shibula
Many think that I have been made the sacrificial lamb at Narayan Murty’s altar of success. A few women journalists have even accused me of setting a wrong example by giving up my dreams to make my husbands a reality. Isn’t freedom about living your life the way you want it? What is rightfor one person might be wrong for another. It is up to the individual to make a choice that is effective in her life. I feel that when a woman gives up her right to choose for herself is when she crosses over from being an individual to a doormat.

Murty’s dreams encompassed not only himself but a generation of people. It was about founding something worthy, exemplary and honorable. It was about creation and distribution of wealth. His dreams were grander than my career plans, in all aspects. So, when I had to choose between Murty’s career and mine, I opted for what I thought was a right choice. We had a home and two little children.

Measles, mumps, fractures, PTA meetings, wants and needs of growing children do not care much for grandiose dreams. They just needed to be attended to. Somebody had to take care of it all. Somebody had to stay back to create a home base that would be fertile for healthy growth, happiness, and more dreams to dream. I became that somebody willingly. I can confidently say that if I had had a dream like Infosys, Murty would have given me his unstinting support. The roles would have been reversed.

We are not bound by the archaic rules of marriage. I cook for him but I don’t wait up to serve dinner like a traditional wife. So, he has no hassles about heating up the food and having his dinner.

He does not intrude into my time especially when I am writing my novels. He does not interfere in my work at the Infosys Foundation and I don’t interfere with the running of Infosys. I teach Computer Science to MBA and MCA students at Christ college for a few hours every week and I earn around Rs 50,000 a year. I value this financial independence greatly though there is no need for me to pursue a teaching career. Murty respects that. I travel all over the world without Murty because he hates travelling. We trust each other implicitly. We have another understanding too. While he earns the money, I spend it, mostly through the charity.

Philanthropy is a profession and an art… The Infosys Foundation was born in 1997 with the sole objective of uplifting the less- privileged sections of society. IN THE PAST THREE YEARS WE HAVE BUILT HOSPITALS, ORPHANAGES, REHABILITATION CENTRES, SCHOOL BUILDINGS, SCIENCE CENTRES AND MORETHAN 3500 LIBRARIES. Our work is mainly in the rural areas amongst women and children. I am one of the trustees and our activities span six states including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra, Orissa, Chandigarh and Maharashtra.I travel to around 800 villages constantly. Infosys Foundation has a minimal staff of three trustees and three office members. We all work very hard to achieve our goals and that is the reason why Infosys Foundation has a distinct identity. Every year we donate around Rs 5-6 crore (Rs 50 – 60 million). We run Infosys Foundation the way Murty runs Infosys in a professional and scientific way.

Philanthropy is a profession and an art. It can be used or misused. We slowly want to increase the donations and we dream of a time when Infosys Foundation could donate large amounts of money. Every year we receive more than 10,000 applications for donations. Everyday I receive more than 120 calls. Amongst these, there are those who genuinely need help and there are hood winkers too. I receive letters asking me to donate Rs five lakh to someone because five lakh is, like peanuts to Infosys.

Some people write to us asking for free Infosys shares. Over the years I have learnt to differentiate the wheat from the chaff, though I still give a patient hearing to all the cases. Sometimes I feel I have lost the ability to trust people. I have become shrewder to avoid being conned.

It saddens me to realize that even as a person is talking to me I try to analyze them: Has he come here for any donation? Why is he praising my work or enquiring about my health, does he want some money from me? Eight out of ten times I am right. They do want my money. But I feel bad for the other two whom I suspected. I think that is the price that I have to pay for the position that I am in now.

The greatest difficulty in having money is teaching your children the value of it and trying to keep them on a straight line…. Bringing up children n a moneyed atmosphere is a difficult task.

EVEN TODAY I THINK TWICE IF I HAVE TO SPEND RS 10 ON AN AUTO WHEN I CAN WALK UP TO MY HOUSE. I cannot expect my children to do the same. They have seen money from the time they were born. But we can lead by example. When they see Murty wash his own plate after eating and clean the two toilets in the house everyday they realize that no work is demeaning irrespective of how rich you are. I DON’T HAVE A MAID AT HOME BECAUSE I DON’T SEE THE NEED FOR ONE.

When children see both parents working hard, living a simple life, most of the time they tend to follow. This doesn’t mean we expect our children to live an austere life. My children buy what they want and go where they want but they have to follow certain rules. They will have to show me a bill for whatever they buy. My daughter can buy five new outfits but she has to give away five old ones. My son can go out with his friends for lunch or dinner but if he wants to go to a five star hotel, we discourage it. Or we accompany him. So far my children haven’t given me any heartbreak. They are good children.

My eldest daughter is studying abroad, whereas my son is studying in Bangalore. They don’t use their father’s name in vain. If asked, they only say that his name is Murty and that he works for Infosys. They don’t want to be recognized and appreciated because of their father or me but for themselves. I DON’T FEEL GUILTY ABOUT HAVING MONEY FOR WE HAVE WORKED HARD FOR IT. BUT I DON’T FEEL COMFORTABLE FLAUNTING IT…IT IS A CONSCIOUS DECISION ON OUR PART TO LIVE A SIMPLE, SO-CALLED MIDDLE CLASS LIFE.WE LIVE IN THE SAME TWO- BEDROOM, PARSELY FURNISHED HOUSE BEFORE INFOSYS BECAME A SUCCESS. Our only extravagance is buying books and CDs. MY HOUSE HAS NO LOCKERS FOR I HAVE NO JEWELS. I WEAR A STONE EARRING WHICH I BOUGHT IN BOMBAY FOR RS 100. I don’t even wear my mangalsutra until I attend some family functions or I am with my mother-in-law. I am not fond of jewellery or saris.

Five years ago, I went to Kashi where tradition demands that you give up something and I gave up shopping. Since then I haven’t bought myself a sari or gone shopping. It is my friends who gift me with saris. Murty bought me a sari a long time ago. It was not to my taste and I told him to refrain from buying saris for me in the future. I am no good at selecting men’s clothes either. It is my daughter who does the shopping for us.

I still have the same sofa at home which my daughter wants to change. However, we have indulged ourselves with each one having their own music system and computer. I don’t carry a purse and neither does Murty most of the time. I do tell him to keep some small change with him but he doesn’t. I borrow money from my secretary or my driver if I need cash. They know my habit so they always carry extra cash with them. But I settle the accounts every evening. MURTY AND I ARE VERY COMFORTABLE WITH OUR LIFESTYLE AND WE DON’T SEE THE NEED TO CHANGE IT.

NOW THAT WE HAVE MONEY. Murty and I are two opposites that complement each other… Murty is sensitive and romantic in his own way. He always gifts me books addressed to >From Me to You. Or to the person I most admire etc. We both love books. We are both complete opposites. I am an extrovert and he is an introvert. I love watching movies and listening to classical music. Murty loves listening to English classical music. I go out for movies with my students and secretary every other week. I am still young at heart. I really enjoyed watching “Kaho Na Pyaar Hai” and I am a Hrithik Roshan fan. It has been more than 20 years since Murty and I went for a movie.

My daughter once gave us a surprise by booking tickets for “Titanic”. Since I had a prior engagement that day, Murty went for the movie with his secretary Pandu. I love travelling whereas Murty loves spending time at home. Friends come and go with the share prices… Even in my dreams, I did not expect Infosys to grow like the way it has. I don’t think even Murty envisioned this phenomenal success, at least not in 1981. After Infosys went public in 1993, we became what people would call as rich, moneyed people. I was shocked to see what was happening to Infosys and to us. Suddenly you see and hear about so much money. Your name and photo is splashed in the papers. People talk about you. It was all new to me. SUDDENLY I HAVE PEOPLE WALKING UP TO ME SAYING, OH, WE WERE SUCH GOOD FRIENDS, WE HAD A MEAL 25 YEARS AGO.

THEY CLAIM TO HAVE BEEN PRESENT AT OUR WEDDING (WHICH IS AN UTTER LIE BECAUSE ONLY MY FAMILY WAS PRESENT AT MY WEDDING). I DON’T EVEN KNOW ALL THESE PEOPLE WHO CLAIM TO KNOW MURTY AND ME SO WELL. But that doesn’t mean I don’t have true friends. I do have genuine friends, a handful, who have been with me for a very long time. My equation with these people has not changed and vices versa. I am ALSO VERY CLOSE TO NARAYAN MURTY’S family, especially my sister-in-law KAMALA MURTY, a SCHOOLTEACHER, who is more of a dear friend to me. I have discovered that these are the few relationships and friendships that don’t fluctuate depending on the price of Infosys shares. Have I lost my identity as a woman, in Murty’s shadow? No. I might be Mrs. Narayan Murty. I might be Akshata and Rohan’s mother.

I might be the trustee of Infosys Foundation. But I am still Sudha. I play different roles like all women. That doesn’t mean we don’t have our own identity. Women have that extra quality of adaptability and learn to fit into different shoes. But we are our own selves still. And we have to exact our freedom by making the right choices in our lives, dictated by us and not by the world.

List of All time largest Foreign Direct Investments(FDI) in India

List of All time largest Foreign Direct Investments(FDI) in India
Reliance Industries' USD 7.2 billion mega deal with British major BP Plc is seen as the biggest the foreign direct investment into India so far.

Japanese pharma major Daiichi Sankyo's buyout of Ranbaxy Laboratories for USD 4.5 billion is the second biggest FDI.

Other proposal like South Korean Posco's USD 12 billion investment for a steel plant in Orissa though higher than RIL-BP deal in terms of value, is yet to take off. So is the case with ArcelorMittal's around USD 30 billion investment plans across India.

Another mega transaction worth USD 11 billion was between Vodafone and Hutchison-Essar. However, there was no direct participation of any domestic firm, as deal was between two foreign firms.

Unveiling one of the biggest transactions in the Indian energy space, Mukesh Ambani-led conglomerate today announced the sale of 30 per cent stake in its 23 blocks including the giant KG-D6 gas fields to UK's BP Plc for USD 7.2 billion.

"This is the single largest FDI in the history of India," RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani said while announcing the deal in London.

Interestingly, Reliance Industries' failed attempt in 2010 to take control of petrochemicals major LyondellBasell, was valued at over USD 14 billion. If the transaction had materialised, it would have been the largest ever by an Indian entity.

Going by estimates, last year alone saw the announcement of more than 290 inbound transactions worth over USD 22 billion.

Among them were Vedanta Resources' planned USD 9.6 billion acquisition of a majority stake in Cairn India.

Abbott Laboratories' takeover of healthcare solutions business of Piramal Healthcare in a USD 3.7 billion deal and Japanese entity JFE Steel Corp's USD 1 billion investment in JSW Steel were among other big transactions.

The NTT DOCOMO-Tata Teleservices worth USD 2.70 billion also saw significant FDI inflows into India.

Among the top deals involving Indian entities are USD 10.7-billion Bharti-Zain transaction and Tata Steel's USD 12 billion-buyout of Corus.

Other major transactions involving Indian entities are Hindalco's buyout of Novelis for USD 6 billion, ONGC -Imperial's USD 2.80 billion deal.

'Rahul Gandhi, family have black money stashed in Swiss banks': Ram Jethmalani

'Rahul Gandhi, family have black money stashed in Swiss banks': Ram Jethmalani

Veteran lawyer and Bharatiya Janata Party MP Ram Jethmalani on Monday said that he believed that the Gandhi family has black money stashed in Swiss bank accounts.

"I believe that the Gandhi family has money stashed in Swiss banks," Jethmalani told reporters outside parliament.

"Swiss magazines have written, even Kent books have written...Rahul Gandhi has been getting money from Swiss Bank. A whole advertisement appeared in the New York Times where this allegation was repeated," he said.

A task force appointed by the BJP on the black money issue recently alleged that Sonia Gandhi and her husband, former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, were among the Indians who held Swiss bank accounts abroad.
Senior party leader L.K. Advani later wrote to Sonia Gandhi and regretted the mention of their names in the booklet.

Jethmalani, however, said the letter was in no way an apology.

"He (Advani) did not apologise, only said that for so many years you (Sonia Gandhi) did not give a denial and now you have given one," he said.

The four-member task force comprising S Gurumurthy, former IB director Ajit Doval, Professor R. Vadiyanathan and advocate Mahesh Jethmalani has put the figure of money stashed in safe havens to be 25 lakh crore.

On February 1, NDA leaders had released a booklet 'Indian Black Money Abroad in Secret Banks and Tax Havens', the second report of the task force appointed by the BJP.

Cereal with milk for breakfast is the healthiest way to start the morning: Research

And the best way to start the morning is with a simple bowl of cereal, as it makes people less likely to turn to fatty, sugary food through the rest of the day.

The study, by nutritionist Sigrid Gibson, and published in the BNF Nutrition Bulletin, revealed that cereal is a good source of calcium and numerous other key nutrients, such as fibre, protein and carbohydrate.

The research team analysed 12,068 food records from the National Diet and Nutrition Survey, which interviewed Britons aged from 19 to 64.

The results showed that one in five adults ate no solid food for breakfast, one third chose cereal and 45 per cent enjoyed a non-cereal breakfast. The most popular item was tea or coffee, taken on 84 per cent of breakfast occasions.

Milk was consumed with 82 per cent of breakfasts, followed by cereal (39 per cent), bread (33 per cent) and fruit (14 per cent).

Women were less likely than men to choose bread, sausage, bacon or eggs and more likely to have fruit instead.

The study found that eating breakfast was associated with a lower fat and higher carbohydrate intake over 24 hours compared with skipping breakfast.

Top Ten Lessons for an Start Up Entrepreneur : Must Follow

Entrepreneur should be Passionate
You must be ‘passionate’ about what you are trying to achieve. That means you’re willing to sacrifice a large part of your waking hours to the idea you’ve come up with. This passion will ignite the same intensity in the others who join you as you build a team to succeed in this endeavor. And with passion, both your team and your customers are more likely to truly believe in what you are trying to do.

Most companies die from indigestion rather than starvation
Great entrepreneurs ‘focus’ intensely on an opportunity where others see nothing. This focus and intensity helps eliminate wasted effort and distractions. Most companies die from indigestion rather than starvation, i.e. companies suffer from doing too many things at the same time rather than doing a few things very well. Stay focused on the mission.

Behind every overnight success lies years of hard work and sweat
Success only comes from ‘hard work’. We all know that there is no such thing as overnight success. Behind every overnight success lies years of hard work and sweat. People with luck will tell you that there’s no easy way to achieve success ? and that luck comes to those who work hard. Successful entrepreneurs always give 100 percent of their efforts to everything they do. If you know you are giving your best effort, you’ll never have any reason for regrets. Focus on things you can control; stay focused on your efforts and let the results be what they will be.

Enjoy the journey
The road to success is going to be long, so remember to ‘enjoy the journey’. Everyone will teach you to focus on goals, but successful people focus on the journey and celebrate the milestones along the way. Is it worth spending a large part of your life trying to reach the destination if you didn’t enjoy the journey along the way? Won’t the team you attract to join you on your mission also enjoy the journey more as well? Wouldn’t it be better for all of you to enjoy the time of your life during the journey, even if the destination is never reached?

Analyze information with your heart but not with your brain!!
Trust your ‘gut instinct’ more than any spreadsheet. There are too many variables in the real world that you simply can’t put into a spreadsheet. Spreadsheets spit out results from your inexact assumptions and give you a false sense of security. In most cases, your heart and gut are still your best guide. The human brain works as a binary computer and can only analyze the exact information-based zeros and ones (or black and white). Our heart is more like a chemical computer that uses fuzzy logic to analyze information that can’t be easily defined in zeros and ones. We’ve all had experiences in business where our heart told us something was wrong while our brain was still trying to use logic to figure it all out. Sometimes a faint voice of instinct resonates far more strongly than overpowering logic.

Entrepreneur should be flexible but persistent
Every entrepreneur has to be agile in order to perform, so ‘be flexible but persistent’. You have to continually learn and adapt as new information becomes available. At the same time you have to remain persistent to the cause and mission of your enterprise. That’s where that faint voice becomes so important, especially when it is giving you early warning signals that things are going off-track. Successful entrepreneurs find the balance between listening to that voice and staying persistent in driving for success ? because sometimes success is waiting right across from the transitional bump that’s disguised as failure.

Find your own core skills and strengths
It’s a simple fact that no individual can be good at everything, so ‘rely on your team’. Everyone needs people around them who have complimentary sets of skills. Entrepreneurs are an optimistic bunch of people and it’s very hard for them to believe that they are not good at certain things. It takes a lot of soul-searching to find your own core skills and strengths. After that, find the smartest people you can, who compliment your strengths. It’s easy to get attracted to people who are like you; the trick is to find people who are not like you but who are good at what they do and what you can’t do.

Success doesn't come from innovative ideas, it only comes through executing them
Unless you are the smartest person on earth (and who is) it’s likely that many others have thought about doing the same thing you’re trying to do. Success doesn’t necessarily come from breakthrough innovation but from flawless ‘execution’ ? execution, execution, and execution. A great strategy alone won’t win a game or a battle; the win comes from basic blocking and tackling. All of us have seen entrepreneurs who waste too much time writing business plans and preparing power points. Business plan is too long if it’s more than one page. Besides, things never turn out exactly the way you envisioned them. No matter how much time you spend perfecting the plan, you still have to adapt according to the ground realities. You’re going to learn a lot more useful information from taking action rather than hypothesizing. Remember this ? stay flexible and adapt as new information becomes available.

The two qualities that entrepreneur should have
Don’t imagine achieving long term success without having ‘honesty and integrity’. These two qualities need to be at the core of everything we do. Everybody has a conscience ? but too many people stop listening to it. There is always that faint voice that warns you when you are not being completely honest or even slightly off track from the path of integrity. Be sure to listen to that voice.

Success is a long journey
Success is a long journey and much more rewarding if you ‘give back’. By the time you get to success, lots of people will have helped you along the way. You’ll learn, as I have, that you rarely get a chance to help the people who helped you because in most cases, you don’t even know who they were. The only way to pay back the debts we owe is to help people we can help and hope they will go on to help more people. We draw so much from the community and society that we live in that when we are successful we should think in terms of how we can help others in return. Sometimes it’s just a matter of being kind to people. At other times, offering a sympathetic ear or a kind word is all that’s needed. It’s our responsibility to do ‘good’ with the resources we have at our disposal.

Measuring Success
Hopefully, you have internalized the secrets of becoming a successful entrepreneur. The next question you are likely to ask yourself is: How do we measure success? Success, of course, is very personal; there is no universal way of measuring success. What do successful people like Bill Gates and Mother Teresa have in common? On the surface it’s hard to find anything they share - and yet both are successful. I personally believe the real metric of success isn’t the size of your bank account. It’s the number of lives where you might be able to make a positive difference. This is the measure of success we need to apply while we are on our journey to success.

What is wrong with the ADAG? Can Anil Ambani put things back on track?

What is wrong with the Anil Ambani camp? Why are the series of lawsuits, business setbacks, and growing corporate governance concerns haunting the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG)? Does the Reliance Group see a green light in the near feature or can Anil Ambani put things back on track? It should be noted that in the last ADAG has lost 70 percent of its value and the stock market benchmark BSE Sensex has jumped up by 8.8 percent in the same period. The combined profits of the six listed entities of ADAG have seen a 24 percent decrease, going down to 6,920 crore in the last two years.

What is wrong with the ADAG? Can Anil Ambani put things back on track?

With having very powerful presence in areas such as telecom, entertainment, capital, power, health and infrastructure, the ADAG Group has been threatened with the fact that their big projects with high growth potential are yet to get off the ground. It all started with the much-talked-about initial public offer from R-Power of which the stock ended day one 17 percent lower than the IPO price and even now, it is being traded at a 51 percent discount to its issue price.

Cheap Gas KG basin Issue with Mukesh Ambani:
On October 8, 2008, Anil took his brother's Reliance Industries to the court to uphold a memorandum of understanding to get a share of the cheap gas from the KG basin. But adding more to his woes, in May 2010, the Supreme Court ruled against him and in favor of Mukesh Ambani.

Investment in Secondary Market:
In January 2011, it was reported that SEBI barred Anil Ambani and four top officials of his group from investing in the secondary market until December 2011 on charges of misquoting certain investments in the books. Besides imposing a charge of Rs 50 crore, the market regulator also barred R-Infra and RNRL from investing in the secondary market till 2012, the news which Anil Ambani has denied by saying that they settled the SEBI probe voluntarily.

Improper Execution of  Projects in Power and Telecom:
Reliance Communications with its GSM and CDMA services has seen severe setbacks in the last few years resulting in RCom scoring the worst leverage ratio among telcos and having debts of 38,000 crore. Although the R-power has bagged a number of projects, not many are off the ground due to improper execution. In the power section, the company has got ultra mega power projects and approvals for coal, but hasn't set up any plants yet.

Interrogation by CBI on 2G Scam:
Latest in the series, Anil Ambani was questioned for three hours by the CBI on his firms stand on the 2G scam. Sources say that he was questioned about the transfer of Swan Telecom's ownership from ADAG to DB Realty. CBI has also reportedly asked about RCom's dual technology licenses, which allowed GSM-based mobile services. RCom's recent war of words with the Tata Group on the same issue has further weakened his corporate status.

Other Issues
Impulsive venturing into areas in which they did not have much experience, lack of an effective executive management team, no strict following of corporate governance measures and non sustainability has gripped the future of ADAG. Anil Ambani needs to revamp his empire and resurrect it, for which he needs a great team with sheer execution capability. Hope his lessons learnt at Wharton will guide him in his endeavor.

Belgium breaks World record for longest time without a Government

Many would see it as a humiliation, but for Belgium it's an excuse for a party: The country's citizens are marking 250 days without a government , a figure that they are treating as a world record.

Day to day the crisis pits the leaders of 6 million Dutch-speaking Flemings against those of 4.5 million French speakers, but people from across the country are putting aside their differences to celebrate the occasion.

Belgium has been operating without a government since June 2010. Coalition talks between the seven parties that won seats in the last general election have failed constantly, and if the politicians do not sort out their differences by February 17 2011, the crisis will last for 250 days, making the country world champion for existing in absence of a government, the Daily Mail reports.

Besides Somalia, only Iraq has surpassed Belgium in not forming a government following democratic elections.

Social networking sites like Facebook have already made a mockery of the prevailing situation in that country. There is even an Internet game called 'Solve the Belgian Crisis' in which players bang politicians on the head with hammers to gain points.

The 'Beards for Belgium' website has more than 650 members who have signed on to grow their beards until Belgium forms a government, the paper said.

Belgium's two major parties, the Flemish nationalists and the French speaking socialists, have been at loggerheads for months, and the country might have to call another election if they fail to find common ground in the weeks ahead.

King Albert had to appoint and accept the resignation of one go-between after another as the major parties refused to move far from their pre-election position. It is a process which continues to this day. The chances of success for the current negotiator, caretaker Finance Minister Didier Reynders, are seen as slim and the specter of new elections to break the deadlock are looming.

"We never take ourselves seriously. We are the country of the Smurfs, of Tintin, of Rene Magritte and surrealism. So it is a country that, compared with England or France, we dare to make fun of ourselves," said Brussels politician Luckas Vander Taelen.

Google One Pass digital contents to beat Apple newly launched subscription service

Rivalry between the internet giant Google and the iPhone maker Apple has reached new heights with launch of Google One Pass. Google announced the launch of One Pass, a payment system that enables publishers to set the terms for access to their digital content, just a day after Apple launched their new subscription service through App Store.

Google One Pass digital contents to beat Apple newly launched subscription service

Google One Pass allows publishers to maintain direct relationships with their customers and give readers access to digital content across websites and mobile apps. Google claimed that through One Pass, publishers can set their own prices and terms for their digital content.

Readers who purchase from a One Pass publisher can access their content on tablets, smartphones and websites using a single sign-on with an email and password.

"With Google One Pass, publishers can customize how and when they charge for content while experimenting with different models to see what works best for them - offering subscriptions, metered access, "freemium" content or even single articles for sale from their websites or mobile apps," Google said in its Blog.

While the Apple gets 30 percent share of customer payments, Google is asking for only 10 percent. Google CEO Eric Schmidt said the One Pass is intended to make money for the publishers.

"Our goal is to provide an open and flexible platform that furthers our commitment to support publishers, journalism and access to quality content," Google added in its Blog.

Google One Pass is currently available for publishers in Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the UK and the US, and will be extended to other countries soon.

Internet Security Is Same As Public Health - Collective Defense Only Way

The parallels between real-life viral epidemics and internet viruses is obvious. It’s the whole reason that fast-spreading malicious computer programs were called viruses in the first place.

Internet Security Is Same As Public Health - Collective Defense Only Way
It stands to reason then that stopping computer malware from spreading should mirror efforts to collectively protect people from public health risks, said Scott Charney, corporate vice president for trustworthy computing at Microsoft. He made the remarks in one of the opening keynotes at the RSA security conference in San Francisco this morning. That means companies, governments and other entities will have to collaborate to eliminate risks to everyone, rather than just look out for themselves.

Internet Security Is Same As Public Health - Collective Defense Only Way

“Most of our efforts today are reactive, but we need to be proactive,” Charney said. “We promote wellness and exercise to promote public health. We can promote wellness for the internet.”

Don't You Think 'Video Games Are Waste Of Time'?

We play more than 3 billion hours a week of video games. Jane McGonigal, director of game research at the Institute for the Future, would like to see us play more than 21 billion hours a week. She thinks we can get there by overcoming misconceptions about games and building games that have a broader interest and more meaning.

Don't You Think 'Video Games Are Waste Of Time'?

McGonigal’s research, captured in the new book Reality is Broken: Why games make us better and how they can change the world, could be very important for the game industry because she articulates why games should be a gigantic industry, compared to where they are today.

UK Youth Unemployment Rate running at 20.5%: 1.19 million doing Part Time

UK unemployment rose by 44,000 to almost 2.5 million in the three months to the end of December, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) has said.

Youth unemployment rose to a fresh record high, with more than one in five 16 to 24-year-olds out of work after a rise of 66,000 to 965,000.

The unemployment rate is now 7.9%, with youth unemployment running at 20.5%.

The number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance also increased, by 2,400 last month to 1.46 million.

The number of people in part-time work because they could not find a full-time job rose by 44,000 to 1.19 million, another high since records began in 1992.

The latest UK labour market figures provide further evidence that the jobs recovery has gone into reverse.

Long-term unemployment also deteriorated, with 17,000 more people out of work for more than a year, to a total of 833,000.

Other data from the ONS showed that average earnings rose by 1.8% in the year to December last year, slightly down on the 2.1% growth in the year to November.

The figures also showed that unemployment fell in Scotland by 13,000, but rose in England, Wales and Northern Ireland

Facebook 'Friends' Cause Stress : Edinburgh Napier University Research

People with the most Facebook "friends" are more likely to feel stressed out by the site, according to researchers.

Edinburgh Napier University found a significant minority of users suffered "considerable Facebook-related anxiety".

Facebook 'Friends' Cause Stress : Edinburgh Napier University Research

However, they only received very modest rewards.

More than one in 10 said Facebook made them feel anxious and more than three in 10 said they felt guilty about rejecting friend requests.

The study found that one in 10 (12%) of the students questioned said they disliked receiving friend requests, while almost two thirds (63%) said they delayed replying to friend requests.

The results threw up a number of paradoxes. For instance, although there is great pressure to be on Facebook there is also considerable ambivalence amongst users about its benefits.

It was actually those with the most contacts, those who had invested the most time in the site, who were the ones most likely to be stressed. Like gambling, Facebook keeps users in a neurotic limbo, not knowing whether they should hang on in there just in case they miss out on something good.

This could be because of the pressure users feel to come up with updates about their life for a large number of people. It's like being a mini news channel about yourself. The more people you have the more you feel there is an audience there. You are almost a mini celebrity and the bigger the audience the more pressure you feel to produce something about yourself.

An "overwhelming majority" of respondents reported that the best thing about Facebook was "keeping in touch" but many people said they were anxious about withdrawing from the site for fear of missing important social information or offending contacts.

The survey also found that other causes of tension included purging unwanted contacts, the pressure to be inventive and entertaining, and having to use appropriate etiquette for different types of "friends".

The researchers quizzed about 200 students on their use of the site, which now has more than 500 million users worldwide.

They used focus groups, an online survey of 175 people and one-to-one interviews to collect the data.

Zinc can be an 'effective treatment' for common colds: But has Side Effects too !!

Taking zinc syrup, tablets or lozenges can lessen the severity and duration of the common cold, experts believe. A review of the available scientific evidence suggests taking zinc within a day of the onset of cold symptoms speeds recovery.

It may also help ward off colds, say the authors of the Cochrane Systematic Review that included data from 15 trials involving 1,360 people.

Now more work is needed to determine the exact dosing required, say the experts.

Cold viruses

Adults catch between two to four colds a year and children up to 10 a year.

There is little a person can do to avoid these infections because the viruses responsible are so commonplace.

This review strengthens the evidence for zinc as a treatment for the common cold”

The review authors

Cold viruses can be passed from person to person not only by coughs and sneezes but also by touching contaminated surfaces such as door handles.

There is no proven treatment for the common cold, but experts believe zinc medications may help prevent and lessen infections by coating the common cold viruses and stopping them from entering the body through the thin lining of the nose.

It also appears to stop the virus from replicating, at least in laboratory tests.

There is also the suggestion that zinc aids the immune system and may dampen down some of the unpleasant reactions the body has to an invading virus.

Speedy recovery

As per the researchers ,the review strengthens the evidence for zinc as a treatment for the common cold.

However, researchers are not sure about he optimum dose, formulation or length of treatment at this moment. It is still difficult to make a general recommendation right now.

According to trial results, zinc syrup, lozenges or tablets taken within a day of the onset of cold symptoms reduce the severity and length of illness.

At seven days, more of the patients who took zinc remedies every couple of hours during the daytime had cleared their symptoms compared to those who took placebos.

And children who took 15mg of zinc syrup or zinc lozenges daily for five months or longer caught fewer colds and took less time off school.

But the 15 trials in the review all used different treatment timescales and doses, making it impossible to reach a consensus.

Side Effects :

Excessive amounts can cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhoea.

Zinc's toxicity would also be a potential concern if taken over longer periods.

However, Researchers believe this is a treatment that is showing some promise which, where treating the common cold is concerned, is unusual.

Facebook helps in improving 'social skills' : Cambridge University

A study has suggested that Facebook  can encourage people to be more sociable.

The Cambridge University findings go against other studies which suggest using online social networking sites makes people less social.

Researchers discovered Facebook gave people more choice on how they conduct relationships and was "a way of storing biography and enhancing social memory".

Facebook improves social skills

The study showed many people used it to track people they liked or to find out what ex-partners were up to.

Members log on to Facebook to look at profiles and pictures because more information can be gleaned from it than a phone call or letter, the study said.

But people also used it to keep in touch with old school and university friends who they might otherwise lose contact with.

As a result it could change the way people associated at a fundamental level, meaning former relationships and associations can be revived, according to the study.

The findings are based on focus groups with students and interviews. More than 15 people took part in focus groups and seven people had in-depth interviews about Facebook lasting several hours.
